STATE OF GRACE/SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF

265.

The Gnostics, like William Blake, believe that Jebus has already returned to the earth and that we already live in Paradise. Few of us recognize our perfect existence though and, instead we worry about sin and resolve to live cleaner, more responsible and mundane lives and we tell ourselves that Paradise will surely be ours, but not until our next life, the one well spend in that fictitious realm described to us in our mythologies.

Our world can be small and mean with machetes and tires aflame around innocent necks and mind-numbing work and gnawing poverty and injustices but, lets face it, we are, most of us, loved by someone, and manage to find generous and loving and kind people with whom to share our lives.

I dont know about Jebus fitting into the equation, but do believe that we live in Paradise and try very hard to appreciate this fact on a continuing basis. Our world is so amazingly CRISP and beautiful and filled with wonder and beauty; it practically begs us to acknowledge it.

My friend Rosa worries that shell get lazy and forget to appreciate every day that shes alive. I think maybe she is like Pottergrrl and me in that we believe in the wonders of the present moment, recognize what a grace it is to be alive, to live and love and cry and laugh and fuck and gasp and touch and smell and hear and see this beautiful place and share this experience with others.

I believe in my heart of hearts that it really is only our ignoranceour inability to recognize the grace in the world around usthat keeps us removed from Paradise.
