I just noticed that one day this month is so chock full of meetings that the only time I can even pee or eat will be between 1 and 1:30 p.m.! Durn!! That better not be a day when an ACC team plays a tournament game! Today, I am practically slackjawed over news from Islamabad that a village council has overturned the convictions of five men who were found guilty of gang-raping a woman. The council also commuted the death sentence of a sixth man to life in prison and found innocent the eight other men whom she testified had raped her too. According to this council (of men, natch), the gang rape was justified because the victim's brother had an alleged love affair. This is especially ironic given that, in the course of the trial, evidence made it clear that the men who gang-raped the woman molested her brother too and were trying to conceal this fact with a revenge defense.
